Kochi (also known as Cochin) is a city in the state of Kerala in south-western India. It has been a port since 1341 when a flood eroded the harbour and opened it to Arab, Chinese and European merchants. Among the places that reflect these influences is Fort Kochi, a settlement of tiled colonial bungalows and various places of worship.
